Gene Baur Speaking Tour Comes to PA

On Sunday, December 4, 2011, Gene Baur visited Doylestown, PA as part of Farm Sanctuary’s 25th Anniversary Speaking Tour. This took some planning because we wanted to make sure we provided a great event for everyone in attendance. That morning, we hosted Gene for breakfast at Sprig & Vine—a wonderful vegan restaurant close by in New Hope, PA. They set up a great menu for us—a... Read More

Farm Sanctuary Walk for Animals – NYC 2011

On October 23, 2011, we went to New York and participated in Farm Sanctuary’s Walk for Farm Animals. This was the first one for Mauro and I but James and Chris’ fifth. It was a much bigger event than I anticipated and so inspiring to see so many people participating in this wonderful cause. One aspect I really enjoyed, aside from the location, was that it wasn’t just a walk and we were done. There were other activities to keep us engaged before and after the... Read More

Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary

After a long but fun day at DC VegFest, we woke up the next morning excited for our next adventure. Becca had brought her school mascot (Talon) along for the trip and we went down to the National Mall to take a few pictures (he travels like the little gnome on tv!) Afterwards, we had lunch at Sticky Fingers and then hit the road for our next stop—Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary. Only about an hour’s drive outside of Washington, DC, Poplar Spring is a 400-acre animal sanctuary... Read More
