Charlie was a sinner. is the new vegan bar by Nicole Marquis, owner of HipCityVeg. Michael Santoro, the chef, uses seasonal ingredients to make his bar friendly dishes. The menu is made up of small dish styles, including Soup & Salad, On Toast, Salty, Chargrilled, and Pan Roasted.

If you are going for lunch or dinner each person will need to order three to four dishes to make a meal. There is also a Happy Hour from four to seven pm with discounted drinks and specials.
I ordered the beetroot dumplings served on braised lentils with chives, and sour cream. The Little Hot Dogs in a puff pastry with British mustard followed this. These are delightful mini hot dogs were slightly spicy and were made better by dipping them in the mustard. The Maryland Style Crab Cakes are sliders served on a semolina bun with tangy remoulade and bib lettuce. These were my favorites. Next I had the Potato Croquettes with a smoked paprika aioli. The only problem with these is that there were not enough of them. Everything was delicious and I can’t wait to try more dishes.

I was there for lunch, so I had one of their Mocktails. The Raspberry Ginger Soda with raspberries, ginger, lime, and sparkling water hit the spot for a hot summer day.

Charlie was a Sinner. is the perfect spot for a nice lunch, drinks after work, or a casual dinner.

Just don’t ask why Charlie was a sinner. They don’t talk about Charlie.
