Cooking with firm or extra firm tofu sometimes requires that your kitchen counter look like a Jenga game, with cutting boards and all sorts of pots and cans piled on top to press out the excess water, unless you have a tofu press. If you’re like me, you’ve contemplated buying a tofu press but gave up because they’re too expensive or will take up too much space in your kitchen cabinets. So when EZ Tofu Press contacted me asking if I’d like to try their press, I was excited.
The press is slimmer than the others I’d seen and more affordable too. It comes assembled, with the nuts and bolts in place. It’s pretty flat for storing, except for the bolts sticking up/out, but you could probably break it apart for flatter storing, if necessary. I store mine as is.
It’s easy to use (see photos below), makes very little mess and is easy to clean up. Those are three huge pluses in my book.
The only con I found with the product is that one of the boards warped a bit when we used a block of extra firm tofu. We may have pressed a bit too much, but we sure did get all the water out!
It’s that easy! And clean-up is as easy as using a sponge and warm soapy water.
If you’re in the market for a tofu press, I recommend the EZ Tofu Press. It gets the job done without fuss.
