Being vegan has never been easier. Every day there are more and more new vegan products on the market—food and fashion items alike. There are so many different types of legume, grain, nut and seed milks out there you’re bound to find one you love, or a few you like to use in different applications. And if you’re allergic to soy and/or nuts, no problem. There are plenty of allergen-free choices like Good Karma’s Flax Milk.
Flax Milk is lactose-free, gluten free, non-dairy, trans fat-free, soy-free, allergen-free and vegan. Contains omega-3s and supports green farming—information quoted from Good Karma’s website. It comes in 3 varieties: Original, Unsweetened and Vanilla, plus 2 Protein Plus versions containing 5 grams of protein per serving.
Mauro and I tried the Unsweetened, pictured to the right. It’s the only one we found at stores near us and it was just what we wanted, since we usually buy unsweetened milks.
We really liked the faint nutty taste of flax in this milk and think it worked great with everything we used it for. Mauro had it with his morning coffee and I used it for my steel-cut oats, for baking and chocolate milk. It worked just as any other milk and was a great alternative clocking in at just 25 calories per serving. That’s some pretty great karma if you ask me 😉
